Leonardo DiCaprio doa 5 milhões de euros para a Amazónia

Através da fundação que criou há cerca de um mês, Earth Alliance, o ator Leonardo DiCaprio vai doar 5 milhões de dólares (cerca de 4,50 milhões de euros) para salvar a Amazónia dos fogos ininterruptos de que têm assolado a região.

O fundo de nome Amazon Forest Fund que tem como destinatário as comunidades indígenas e outros parceiros locais que trabalham para proteger a biodiversidade da Amazónia.

“100% das doações vão para os parceiros que estão a trabalhar no terreno para proteger a Amazónia”, escreveu Leonardo DiCaprio no domingo na sua conta de Instagram.

“A Earth Alliance compromete-se a ajudar a proteger o mundo natural. Estamos profundamente preocupados com a atual crise na Amazónia”, prosseguiu, na legenda que acompanha as imagens de povos indígenas e de área florestal consumida pelas chamas.
